Incorporating Collections Data into Undergraduate Education

Biodiversity Literacy in Undergraduate Education (BLUE) is a collaboration among individuals from the biodiversity, data, and educational communities that are working together to identify core biodiversity data competencies for undergraduates, develop strategies for integrating these competencies into the introductory biology curriculum, and build capacity for sustained development and implementation of biodiversity and data literacy education. Learn more about BLUE here: http://www.biodiversityliteracy.com/

BLUE and iDigBio are currently active in two QUBES-based projects working to incorporate collections data into educational modules:

iDigBio is also working together with BLUE, QUBES, Kurator, and AIM-UP! on an upcoming faculty mentoring network entitled "Resources for Collections-Based Undergraduate Education" Learn more here: https://qubeshub.org/groups/nhc_fmn

Sharing Best Practices for K-12 Education

The iDigBio Education and Outreach Working Group organized a workshop in December 2016 that brought educational, digital resources, and collections experts from all around the country together to talk about best practices for engaging the K-12 community with digitized natural history collections. One result of the meeting is a best practices document that will be available soon. Visit the workshop Wiki to find resources related to the meeting and get updates on the document.
