OVERVIEW

The new Photo-e-Box BIO (Mk Digital Direct's newest photographic lighting system) was developed due to an increasing need and request by the forensic, medical, and botanical industry-professionals, and museum curators. This new product satisfies a growing and essential need in these fields. One example is a request we received by Michael Bevans, Information Manager for Digitization at The New York Botanical Garden Herbarium. Bevans requested a compact and versatile lighting system capable of photographing approximately 3500 plants a week. Furthermore, the system needed to be safe to avoid exposing the plant specimens to high temperatures, (emitted by an traditional incandescent light source) excessive UV radiation, and to minimize handling of the specimens to prevent damage. This project is funded by the National Science Foundation in order to preserve and digitalize thousands of plant specimens. This is how the Photo-e-Box BIO was born in our factory!

The Photo-e-Box BIO is a complete compact, and self-contained photography lighting studio with no external light source needed. With easy set up and a small footprint it’s perfect to take it on the road for field photography. With color-corrected fluorescent lights, high powered LED lights, ultra violet (black) lights and individual light control switches, the Photo-e-Box BIO is the perfect lighting system for shooting professional high-quality photographs of any specimen. Including insects, plants, rocks, and crime-scene evidence.

Some specimens and products that can be photograph using the Photo-e-Box BIO Include:

• Plant, flowers, seeds, fungi, herbs, etc. (dried, live, and recently cut)
• Insects and Animals such as beetles, butterflies, tarantulas, birds, lizards, etc. (live, dead, slimy, and wet specimens can be contained with special trays found in the accessories section.)
• Rocks, fossils, meteorites, crystals, archeological artifacts, etc. (with or without dirt)
• Forensic and crime lab evidence such as bullets, guns, knives, objects with fingerprints, bones, blood and tissue samples, metal fragments, etc.
• Hazardous and clean rooms to photograph petri dishes with cultured cells, biohazard specimens, pollutants, etc. (WARNING: The actual lighting system is not safe to be used in volatile or flammable gas environments, contact us for further information)
• Any product no larger than 17 x 12 x 11" (If it fits, you can shoot it!)
