AbstractDeb Paul was invited to give the opening talk on the workshop day of the meeting. The aim of this talk was to introduce small and medium-sized enterprises (businesses) to our museum specimen digitization challenges. Topics covered included data transcription and quality, data cleaning, authority files, imaging issues, non-standard data formats, data linking issues, data capture from 3-D objects, and the need for technological advances in areas such as machine learning and natural language processing.
