Our Message of Solidarity

The iDigBio team is in full agreement with the recent statements made by the University of Florida, Florida State University, and Florida Museum in support of racial justice and condemning the murder of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade and countless others.

Our project feels strongly that diversity is a strength and that we all have work to do to make the biodiversity community a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for all. This is a moment to recognize that Black Lives have been especially affected in the United States by the racism present in not only our justice system but our places of learning and community as well.

The natural history collections community must join to solve these issues within our own institutions. We all have work to do, and the members of our small team here at iDigBio are all committed to learning and listening -- right now and always.

Below we have collected just a few resources that may help you on your own journey of self-education.
