Call for student abstracts for iDigBio workshop at Island Biology 2016

Are you a student attending the Island Biology 2016 International Conference on Island Evolution, Ecology and Conservation, to be held on Terceira Island, Azores, from 18-22 July 2016? Do you have a research project which involves the digitization of vouchered natural history collections data from island communities, or utilizes published natural history collections data to better understand island ecosystems?

iDigBio (Integrated Digitized Biocollections), the US National Resource for Advancing Digitization of Biodiversity Collections, is seeking three students to present 5-minute flash talks about their digitization efforts, obstacles overcome, and/or how they are advancing the knowledge about the biodiversity of islands using digitized data as part of the workshop Digitized natural history collections: research uses for understanding island biodiversity, biogeography, and communities. Three students chosen based on their abstract submissions will be reimbursed registration costs of up to $200.

Interested participants are encouraged to submit an abstract and contact information before Feb 28, 2016 via this Google Form.

Specific questions regarding the workshop may be directed to the organizer Shelley James (sjames@flmnh.ufl.edu).
