Specimen Image Processing

Image processing involves all tasks performed on an image or group of images following image capture. Nine tasks are addressed here, reflecting common practices:

1. quality control,
2. barcode capture,
3. file conversion,
4. image cropping,
5. color balance or light level adjustments,
6. image stacking,
7. redaction,
8. file transfer, and
9. optical character recognition (OCR).
