Background
Biospex was created as a central dashboard for launching and administering citizen science projects during and following the 2013 CitScribe hackathon. It is designed around specimen images and labels, with automated processes for ingesting Darwin Core Archive files from MorphBank and iDigBio. To date, it has never been used for field books or accession ledgers, although both of those materials have been subjects in citizen science projects.
Deliverables
We created two exemplar Darwin Core Archive files:
- grinnell.zip, representing one of Joseph Grinnell's field books
- nfn.zip, representing an ornithology accession ledger corresponding to the Notes from Nature ornithology dataset from last year's hackathon.
We modified Biospex to support ingestion of these archive files.
